Objectif : O« The French American Institute for international Studies is a non-profit organization, registered in the State of Texas, on March 22nd, 1984, with the aim of bringing teaching support and aids from afar to American teachers of French as a foreign language. FAIIS organizes short courses and conferences in France and in the States and has set up a network of correspondance between American teachers and French specialists of the teaching of French as a foreign language. Since 1986, it has been publishing a monthly magazine Pages d'écriture which includes suggestions for classroom activities and various items abaut cultural life in France (literature, the cinema, the theater, etc.) […].
Standpoints seems to me to be starting out with even more trump cards than its young sister publication thank to the major contribution provided by the Inspection générale d'anglais and the CNDP which have joined a remarkable team already made up of the most eminent British and American specialists in the field of teaching English as a foreign language » (J. Contenu.
La revue est rédigée essentiellement en anglais. Les informations sont réunies dans trois chapitres. Les deux premiers : « Panorama » et « Focus on the classroom » constituent l'essentiel de la revue et le troisième « Bloc-notes », est en français.
– « Panorama » : articles sur l'actualité et la culture des pays anglophones rédigés par des correspondants vivant à l'étranger.
– « Focus on the classroom » : documents et suggestions d'activités pour tous les niveaux d'enseignement de l'anglais : les débutants, la classe élémentaire, le collège et le lycée.
– « Bloc-notes » : renseignements nécessaires à l'enseignement de l'anglais (programmes, horaires, objectifs et instructions), informations sur les publications du CNDP, sur les activités des différents associations et organismes (l'Association des professeurs de langues vivantes, l'Association française d'études américaines, la Commission franco-américaine d'échanges universitaires et culturels, the British Council).
– Présentation des manifestations s'intéressant à l'enseignement de l'anglais, de séjours linguistiques, et d'outils pédagogiques (manuels d'anglais, revues, cassettes audiovisuelles et logiciels).
